water based lacquer
Hydroclear is a water based air-drying lacquer that is applied to give a clear attractive coating on metal surfaces
The lacquer finds wide usage on decorative applications where no separate lacquer shop is available and it can be used safely in the plating shop, even on automated plants.
It is normally applied by dip and components do not have to be dried before using the lacquer but should be thoroughly rinsed. It has good resistance to `yellowing' and can be used on a wide variety of substrates, plated or solid, such as copper, zinc, brass or cadmium. The material should always be tested under the conditions for which it is intended.
A stoving water based lacquer is available for more demanding applications.
1. Technical Data
Solids Content Approximately 30%.
pH 7.0 to 8.0 (adjusted ammonia).
Specific Gravity 1.06g/cc at 20°C
2. Recommendations For Use
(a) Pre-clean the metal surface, if applicable, using normal degreasing procedures. Ensure that there are no water breaks on the surface of the component. Normally, plated work can enter the lacquer straight from the final swill.
(b) For general use dilute 1 part of Hydroclear lacquer JC-2030 with 3 parts water. For maximum coating thickness dilute 1 part lacquer with 1 part water.
For less demanding applications 1 part lacquer may be diluted with 5 parts water.
(c) For Decorative application, the Articles dry in air for 20-25 minutes depending on the temperature. For Functional application, it must be force dried in warm air at 120oC.
(d) Clean equipment such as Jigs in water, immediately after use, to avoid excessive build-up.
